How we doing? 🫠 We are back with another edition of weekly check in. Mercury Retrograde coupled with smoke in the sky had things feeling precarious/what the hell/doomsday vibes this past week BUT! we believe in the power of doing what we can with what we have. The power of speaking up and making art even when it’s messy or hard. For us this week that looked like calling and yelling at our reps (Jacque), advocating for audience safety at Fringe (Phoebe), and adding a little bit of time in our calendar’s for the inescapability of chaos during this Cancer retrograde.
Don’t need to get ready if we stay ready! 🪄
📜 Top Three of the week
Sense & Sensibility // While the Daisy Edgar Jones British Vogue cover is absolutely slay, like a floral ceramic armour plate (delish!), the trailer once again proves that Hollywood needs to stop with shiny hot people , we do however give praise to the great costume work of Grace Nell. 👏 Plus, Szilveszter Makó work on this shoot is incredible, and always stops the scroll because of his very intentional handcrafted materials and sets. Return to tradition!
Solo Show Era // We are both in our solo show writing era’s (your 30s) and Arlene Malinowski book SOLO has been a go to for exercises, editing, chilling OUT at 1am when you’re writing and the scene isn’t working and what even is the point of this anyway, etc. Grab a copy if you too are working through your internal demons on a stage. Congrats on that!
Heatwave Recipes // Justine Dorion posted this stunning pan con tomate recipe as she too agrees that a go to “hot and tired” recipe is necessary in the Summer. Jacque has already made it once (who doesn’t love a toast moment!?) and it’s delish. 🍅🌿
