trust the process? 08/02 Weekly Check-In ☁️
fringe shows, trying, taking a break
We are observing the Parisian lifestyle this summer (as god intended) and are taking some summer hours time. We are on break from the pod, but not from weekly check ins! This week we wrapped Phoebe’s Fringe Show run. In true duo-co-dependant-fashion, Jacque directed. Phoebe’s show Medically Strange won Best in Series, and Jacque cried.
It’s funny what happens when we trust the process. When we allow something to unfold exactly as it should. For week’s we attempted to have a set rehearsal time, scheduled check ins etc, and you know what actually happened? We were sitting in Phoebe’s living room with her script and spirit struck and two hours later she had blocking, beats, a show. We have 0 photos of this because we were too busy doing the thing and making the art. So here is a mixed bag of moments because we have no photos of the work because the work has been happening.
📜 Top Three of the week
Trying // Jacque has been in NYC taking acting classes reminding herself that 99.9% of is showing up and being uncomfortable. Part of class has been to read excerpts from The Work of Art: Value in Creative Careers by Alison Gerber. As Phoebe writes for new upcoming shows, she has been reading Finding Your Comedic Genius by Adam Bloom. Get to studyin’ gals!
European Summer // Parisian summer is a mindset, not a destination! Especially with the weather being tres scary. We have some Parisian summer rules for the gals! 1. Eat outside (the porch, the outdoor seating, the picnic blanket) 2. Slooww down (take a book to the cafe for a 20 min coffee, pop into a museum for an hour, stroll down a block and window shop for no reason ) 3. End your day with a little l’apéro (summer is for our favorite non alch fizzy juice at 7pm with a side of gossip)
Theater at Home // National Theatre just released Rosamund Pike’s Inter Alia pro-shot, and its GREAT. While we have MANY thoughts about live theater translated to film (Phoebe saw Bleecker Street’s Hadestown this week lol), the National Theatre’s team has the pro-shot made for the couch down to a respectable science that I (Jacque) can get behind. Much more to discuss on the pod!
